Message from the CEO
Latinoise
from the year 2000 to 2003 became the leading online Latin music
destination with 1 million unique visitors per month. To sustain 1
million unique visitors requires a lot of bandwidth and money.
Ironically our success became a problem because we had visitiors and
lots of them, but they were noy buying music. Users would visit our
site to watch videos and interviews, listen to 30 second clips, read
artist bios and news but very few would buy music. Latinoise has always
been on the music labels and legal side of the digital music industry.
With so much rampant music piracy online and advertising rates low, the
monthly costs to sustain a profitable high traffic music portal became
unsustainable.
This
is why I made the decision to
temporarily operate as a CD
and DVD store only. As soon as
the digital music space begins
to sort out and the online music
piracy gets more under control,
as its beginning to happen now
with the RIAA and The Recording Academy initiatives.
We will
then do a relaunch of our full portal
with news, reviews, videos etc.
As you know we had digital downloads
since our launch in 2000, Latinoise
was ahead of its time and we had
to overcome a lot more challenges
because there was more restrictions
on portals
to license songs from labels and
there was very little content
online. I
like to think portals like latinnoise.com
played
a little
part in the online legal music revolution
you see know unfolding with systems like Apple Itunes. When
we
relaunch we will again bring
you the best online Latin music
digital
content as we have done throughout
this wonderful three years. I
like to thank all our visitors,
labels,
promoters, artists and managers
for their support. Latinoise
will be back in full form, on
the meantime
enjoy our CD and DVD store.
Sincerely,
Javier
Rabago
